Justin Hall, General Manager and Sommelier
Even though Justin started his first restaurant job when he was 14, it took him over a decade to admit how much he loves almost every single thing about feeding people. “I always planned to teach until I, almost on a whim, I decided to quit graduate school, move to San Francisco and learn to cook. What I didn’t know was that one of the reasons I would stay, would be because my work has given more opportunity to teach and learn than graduate school ever could.”

While leadership and operations quickly became better fits than cooking, Justin is passionate about wine; he has devoted considerable time working as a sommelier and beverage director. Most of this knowledge was gained being mentored at amazing restaurants (Aqua, Charlie Trotter’s and the Mina Group); however, he has taken classes in Enology at UC Davis and the CIA - Greystone. Justin has also been active in the Court of Master Sommeliers. He as passed the first three exams and will keep sitting for the fourth and final exam as long as they keep inviting him. The rigor and intensity of the Master Sommelier Program has been an enormous privilege.

“It is a rare and special blessing to make sharing your passion with others your job. Getting to work with people that you admire makes it a win-win.”
